The carsharing business is both expanding and transforming at a breathtaking pace. New forms of shared car mobility (one-way, peer-to-peer, ride sharing) are creating a mosaic of alternatives to private car ownership. Automobile manufacturers and rental car companies are responding to what people are saying about how they want to access and use cars. Innovative web-based platforms are now connecting owner and user, driving collaboration and sharing, making big changes in the way assets are purchased and utilized and delivering social and environmental benefits.
At a recent meeting in Washington DC, the CSA expanded its membership criteria and now invites innovative shared mobility organizations to join with founding car sharing organizations as members of the association. Together, we can further advance our common goals of producing social and environmental benefits, maintaining high standards of business ethics, and encouraging growth of sustainable transportation in our communities.
